About Roslyn

Hi, I'm Roslyn — a founder and executive coach.

Roslyn McLarty

I help founders fall in love with building their companies again.

Because I know what it's like to fall out of love with building yours — and I know what it takes to find your way back to grounded, confident, energized leadership.

Chapter one

I started my first company when I was 25.

It's called The GIST, a women-led, mission-driven sports media startup making sports more inclusive and accessible for underserved fans.

At The GIST I was recognized on Forbes 30 Under 30 in media, accelerated and funded by Facebook, Comcast NBC, Techstars and Billie Jean King's Trailblazer program. As Head of Ops, Finance & Growth, I grew the company alongside my co-founders to a multi-million dollar business run by a 40-person team — predominantly women and non-binary folks — serving over a million GISTers.

Although I was experiencing all of the "outer success" I thought would make me feel enough, on the inside, I was struggling.

June 2023

I woke up one morning and realized things were very not okay.

After months of leave and contemplation, I eventually came to the heartbreaking decision to step away from my company.

  • 01

Physically and emotionally exhausted, yet I couldn't sleep — anxiety and rumination kept me awake replaying every way I could have done better.

  • 02

A dullness, an apathy, an inability to care about aspects of my life that once brought me meaning and excitement.

  • 03

Debilitating overwhelm at the thought of work tasks that used to feel so simple.

  • 04

A tormenting inner voice of criticism, telling me I wasn't a good enough co-founder, leader, or person.

  • 05

A constant unease, fearing others saw me the same way — or that any minute they'd discover I was a failure.

  • 06

Hopeless that I'd never find a way out.

What came next

A year of intense personal transformation — and the birth of Within.

Deep healing and self-discovery. I worked with all types of modalities — coaching, EMDR, parts work, somatic experiencing and family therapy, breathwork, meditation, plant medicine, self-hypnosis, acupuncture, and yes, rage journaling.

Ultimately my burnout was an opportunity — to face my unhealed core wounds, limiting beliefs and a fundamental misalignment from my soul.

My intuition led me to pursue a coaching certification that blends Eastern and Western philosophies — sociology, neuroscience, and somatics with spirituality — and to launch Within, to help founders do the inner work that supports their outer success.

A new way of building companies.

Less toxic hustle and clinging to control. More compassion, intuition and joy.

I help founders feel more confident, aligned and energized — and level up their leadership so they can lead their team to success and enjoy their lives along the way.

Burning out and moving on from my company was one of the hardest events of my life — and one of the greatest gifts. It gave me the capacity to rebuild my life with integrity, meaning and alignment, and to support other founders with the same.

Off the clock

Who is Roslyn outside of work?

Now that I'm living a more balanced life, you might find me…

  • 01

Strolling the Brooklyn Heights promenade with a matcha latte and a croissant from l'Appartement 4f.

  • 02

Nose deep in a novel — literary fiction, a thriller, a romance, fantasy or a murder mystery.

  • 03

Checking in with the stars. Cancer sun & rising, Aries moon.

  • 04

Brainstorming new creative and business ideas (I'm a dreamer with a lot of initiating energy).

  • 05

Cozy on the couch with a coffee and a book while my partner watches football beside me.

  • 06

Being a yoga and pilates girlie — I did my Yoga Teacher Training in Costa Rica in 2016.
